Interest Rate Parity क्या है?

Interest Rate Parity finance theory है जो forwards markets और spot markets के बीच relationship establish करती है। Two forms: (1) Covered IRP - hedged version। Forward rate = Spot × (1 + r_quote) / (1 + r_base)। यह arbitrage-free condition है। यदि नहीं hold करती, traders profit कर सकते हैं - इसलिए markets quickly adjust करते हैं। (2) Uncovered IRP - unhedged version। Expected future spot rate = Forward rate। यह empirically often नहीं hold करती है (forward bias puzzle)।

IRP Mathematical Example

Example: USD/INR spot 83.00, US 1-year rate 5%, India 1-year rate 6.5%। Covered IRP forward calculation: F = 83 × (1.065/1.05) = 84.18। यह means 1-year USD/INR forward 84.18 के around trade करना चाहिए। यदि actual forward इससे significantly different है, arbitrageurs profit कर सकते हैं: borrow lower rate currency, exchange to higher rate, invest, convert back via forward। Modern markets में arbitrage opportunities tiny और short-lived हैं - IRP closely holds।
